72 Year Old Arrested For Impaired Driving

(MUNICIPALITY OF HURON SHORES, ON)- Trespass complaint leads to an impaired charge.

On Monday, June 2, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., members of the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a trespassing complaint on Eley Road in the Town of Iron Bridge. A black vehicle had reportedly driven past a gate clearly marked with “No Trespassing” signs. The complainant also suspected the occupants of the vehicle were impaired by drugs.

The vehicle left the area and was observed a short time later traveling eastbound on Highway 17. Officers conducted a traffic stop and, upon speaking with the driver, observed signs of impairment.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Blind River OPP detachment for further testing.

Armond SCARFF, 72 years-of-age from Blind River was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – drug
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on July 3, 2025.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension, and the involved vehicle was impounded for 7days.

The OPP remains committed to ensuring our roads are safe from drug-impaired and alcohol-impaired drivers. Drivers who are impaired by drugs or alcohol continue to pose a significant threat on Ontario roads.
