Dawson DRENNAN – Assault

(HALDIMAND COUNTY) – An individual has been charged following an assault investigation.

On May 23, 2025, members of the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault on Lock Street in Dunnville.

At the time, the victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

On June 1, 2025, 26-year-old Dawson DRENNAN of Dunnville was taken into custody and has been charged with:

  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm

3 Arrested – Details Released

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – Three individuals were arrested after police observed a suspicious vehicle.

On January 31, 2025, at approximately 2:45 a.m., members of the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located a suspicious vehicle parked at a business on Talbot Street, Cayuga.

Police spoke with the occupants and took them into custody.

As a result of the investigation, 20-year-old Kyle DECOURCEY and 28-year-old Courtney HIEBERT, both from Manvers Township have each been charged with the following offence:

  •  Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine

21-year-old Dakota MARKIE from Hamilton has been charged with the following offence:

  •  Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition

All three accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on March 18, 2025.

Michelle HONKOOP – Drunk Driving

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – On January 11, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., members of the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision on Haldimand Road 55, Nanticoke.

The investigation determined that a single vehicle was involved in a collision. The driver, and lone occupant suffered minor injuries.

As a result, 49-year-old Michelle HONKOOP of Jarvis was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on February 11, 2025.

2 Arressted At Traffic Stop – Details Released

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – On December 27, 2024, the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop which resulted in two individuals being arrested on Broad Street in Dunnville.

As a result of the investigation, police seized property and a quantity of illicit drugs including suspected fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine.

Jerrod HAYES, 29-years-old of Dunnville has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (three counts)

Jonathan LUMSDEN, 39-years-old of Smithville has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (three counts)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (two counts)

Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on January 7, 2025.

Bailey SCHWEYER Was Arrested

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – On April 6, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m., members of the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint on Concession 6 Road, Fisherville. 

Police located the vehicle, and upon speaking with the driver, it became obvious that they had consumed alcohol.

An Approved Screening Device was administered at the roadside and as a result, the driver was placed under arrest. The accused was transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Bailey SCHWEYER, 28-years-old of Fisherville has been charged with the following offences:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available
  • Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available
  • Drive Motor Vehicle, No Currently Validated Permit

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on May 14, 2024.

Meth Bust – LUMSDEN & DEVRIES

(DUNNVILLE, ON) – Two people are facing drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop on Broad Street in Dunnville.

On August 1, 2023 at approximately 3 p.m., members of the Haldimand and Norfolk Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) observed an individual in a vehicle who was wanted on an outstanding warrant and initiated a traffic stop.

A search of the individual and the vehicle uncovered a quantity of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine, along with cash and two prohibited knives.

Jonathan LUMSDEN, 38-years-old of West Lincoln Township, is facing the following charges:

  • Possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking (two counts)
  • Possession of a restricted weapon (two counts)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime (under $5000)
  • Failure to comply with release order (two counts)
  • Failure to comply with probation order.

Danielle DEVRIES, 28-years-old of Port Colborne, is charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking (two counts)
  • Possession of a restricted weapon (two counts)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime (under $5000)

Both individuals have been released from custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on September 5, 2023.

12 Year Olds Vs Gator – One Airlifted To Hospital

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment, Haldimand County Fire Services and Haldimand County Emergency Services (EMS) responded to a call for service at a field located on private property near 4th Line in Oneida Township on June 9, 2022, at 5:27 p.m.

Two 12-year-old children were riding a Gator Utility Vehicle (UV) when it slid and rolled over trapping one of the children underneath.  The child was transported to a local hospital and then airlifted by AirOrnge to an out-of-town hospital suffering from serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The other 12-year-old was not injured.
